Hi there….YES! I am slammed this month with school and family and music…all good, but a lot. Friday night I am singing the National anthem for the National Award for Space Achievement Gala, which will be fun. The next morning, I am up early for the first SongCamp at Lucky Run Studios in Houston where I will get to network and write songs with some of my local musician types. That night I am going to sing two of my songs for the Songwriter House/Studio concert featuring Kevin Fisher and my producer, Steven McClintock. I might even debut my new single live Saturday night. Steven has set me up with some great writers in the last year or so including Connie Mims, Kevin Fisher and Tia McGraff and Tommy Parham for starters. It has been a real eye opener for me. And yes…I am still attending classes at school…ha.
Speaking of, you know, as the time got closer for my class of 2016 to graduate, I felt like I wanted to write a song that would help bring everyone together. A bunch of us are preparing for college and will leave home soon. I also wanted to honor my parents for loving and supporting me for the last 18 years. That took some work for sure! So I called up my two favorite Canadians, Tia McGraff and Tommy Parham, and we wrote a song that everyone going away or leaving home can relate to. My new single, coming out soon, “Leaving Home.” Laughing, working and writing with these two has been a true blessing to me.They have so much talent and I am thankful for their passion. We make great music together.
